After enjoying the coast, it was time for us to head back to more familiar terrain. Lakes and mountains

Hotdogs roasting on an open fire.
Jack frost nipping through your tent. Yule tide carols being sung by the shore. And folks dressed in shorts and flops. This year, we decided to do Christmas on the coast in lovely Edisto Beach State Park, South Carolina! It's here!! Our biggest trip of the year! Christmas was a little hard to plan family visits due to COVID (still), so we decided to keep it simple and safe by roaming to some new state parks for two weeks! If you're one of our 3 readers, you probably remember that last year we went across the country and hit Texas. We had so much fun camping for the holiday season, it only made sense to do it again.
Free weekend?! You all know what that means. It's time to book another camping trip! Thanksgiving festivities had wrapped up, and after a great week of food, drinks, and fun with Randy and Keith, it was time to hit the woods and have more food, drinks, and fun!
We were on our way (finally) to Hamilton Branch State Park! After almost two years since one of the campground hosts at Baker Creek state park suggested Hamilton Branch, we finally decided it was time to go! All I can say is we spent the whole time wondering....what the heck took us so long!?
It's really called Kings Mountain State Park, but I thought "Mountain of Kings" sounded more dramatic.
Woo! We had a weekend off. You know what that means!? Camping trip!
We didn't want to go too far during such a busy time, so we called John up and made our way to Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia, SC. Heading to Maryland for a quick weekend? Why not make it a camping adventure!? But this time, lets save some gas and make it a tent weekend. I'm sure we remember how to do it...
In many of our previous South Carolina camping adventures, we passed this massive rock formation and wondered what it was. Well, thanks to the power of Google and its all-knowingness, we discovered it was called Table Rock and that it was a state park complete with camping! Naturally, we had to check it out.
Happy 4th of July, everyone! For the holiday weekend, we headed to Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in Apex, North Carolina. The beginning of 2020 was a busy time for the CameraCouple. We had several camping trips back to back to back, which is exactly how we like it. This weekend, we were heading to Andrew Jackson State Park in South Carolina. Get it... he was the seventh president.
For this week's installment of adventure, the Camera Couple heads to Dreher Island State Park in good ol' South Carolina.
We finally made it to Texas, just in time for Christmas. Hopefully Santa knows where to find us...
Basically, the entire point of this trip was to hit states that we've never been to. Oh, and also to have fun. Originally, we were trying to get out west to Colorado and Utah, but time didn't really permit us going that far. Instead, we settled for Arkansas as our only new state of the trip. We chose Hot Springs National Park as our destination because it sounded so cool!
Working at the Speedway does come with some perks: free entry to races, loud rumbles all day every day, and a massive paid Christmas vacation. This year, we decided to take all the vacation time and do an extra long camping trip. Westward ho! It's off to Texas!
Hooray! It's been a full year since we bought our little camper! In one year, the little home has traveled to almost all of the Northeast and even into another country! We love our little house on wheels, and what better way to celebrate one year of ownership than with a weekend in the woods!
What’s better than camping alone? Well… not much. But camping with friends is definitely a welcome change for us.
After 2 weeks of delightful travel all over the Northeast, it was time we got back to exploring our wonderful state of North Carolina. Back in the springtime, we had seen that Old Crow Medicine Show was coming to Asheville, NC. Mountains and Old Crow? What could be better!?
