We traveled far and wide (ten minutes from our house) to check out a great local brewery! Aside from loving the logo, the beer and atmosphere were equally as great! Luckily we landed on a night with live music. Even better, it was a 90's cover band! The more we had, the louder we sang along. First round went to Beer Masala and the Uncommon Blonde. Beer Masala: Spiced Ale 7.4%. Definitely spiced, but not too much. Tasted almost like a cider but still had the beer flavor to it. There was some sweetness but still left a tingle in your mouth. Did not taste like a 7.4%. Could get you in trouble... Uncommon Blonde: Blonde 6.3%. Looks can be deceiving on this one. When they handed it to me at the bar, I thought they got the order wrong. It looks like an amber or something darker, but once you take a sip it has all the taste and lightness of a blonde with a little extra alcohol content; which is always a bonus! Our second round went to Perseverance and First Kiss. Perseverance: IPA. It has been a recent transition for me getting into IPAs. Just a year ago I thought IPAs were for snotty guys who wanted to seem cool by drinking disgusting beers and holding in their grimaces. Now I'm one of those guys... I'm not really sure what happened but I genuinely like IPAs now. Maybe I'm getting old? Anyways, the perseverance IPA was very solid. Had all the hop flavor without being overwhelming. If you like IPAs, this is your standard, delicious, refreshing IPA. First Kiss: Blonde. Lighter than the Uncommon Blonde. A true blonde with a blonde look. The beer at Commoners brewery was great but the thing that really set them apart from all the other breweries in the Charlotte area was their balcony. Upstairs they have a balcony that, on the inside, overlooks the brewery, and steps out onto a pretty large balcony with outdoor couches, a fire pit, and a beautiful westward view of the sunset! We enjoyed our second beers of the night watching the sun go down. As an added bonus (as if we needed another) puppies are allowed! In fact, the owner of the brewery came up and sat with us for a while with some dog treats; so naturally, Luna loved him. Commoners was perfect for us. It wasn't overly busy, had great beer, and had plenty of space to move around. Beautiful sunsets are always a bonus as well! One of the best breweries in the area.
