Well.... We didn't have any peaches, but we did have beaches! New Year means new adventures! It was time for the first trip of 2020. Cameron and I always love doing a trip for his birthday each year. In 2019, we went to Elijah Clark State Park and absolutely loved it, so we decided to make it a yearly tradition. Even though the campground is a little farther, it's well worth the drive. If you caught our blog post from the fall, I mentioned the area that we love to camp in South Carolina. Elijah Clark State Park is also in that same area, but it's technically in Georgia, since the river is the state line divider. We rolled out early-ish on a Friday to get down there in time to catch a nice sunset and have a beer, while Luna likes to browse all of the smells along the beach. The campsite is always so peaceful in late January, which is why we like to go around then. It makes for a great time when you have a whole beach to yourselves!
Once we were all sunkissed (just kidding) we decided to take a little trip into cute downtown Lincolnton, GA. We had briefly explored it the year before and remembered a grocery store and pizza place along with some boutiques that were unfortunately closed, since it was a Sunday. We figured it might be fun to try it on a Saturday when more shops might be open. We headed a few miles up the road and when we saw the pizza parlor Cameron caught the pizza virus yet again. Well... we might as well give it a try! We stopped in and Cameron got himself a nice looking pizza while I played the claw game. AND WON!!! Luna will be so proud I won her some new toys. ![]() With both of us highly satisfied from our wins, we headed back out to the street only to find that all the shops were closing. It was about 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday, so we couldn't quite figure out why they all closed so early. Either way, we were out of luck! Bummer. Maybe next year we will finally get to see what these shops have to offer. We decided to head back to the campground. As we were almost back, we decided to stop at a local marina/campground that appeared to have a fun looking bar. The marina was along the same river the campsite. We went in and found a brand new building that was adorable. It had a great outdoor patio with fun lighting and a beautiful, yet echoy, inside bar and tables. We grabbed a seat at the bar and got some fun drinks other than beer for once. Cameron saw a sign for "Pickle Shots," so of course he had to try one. Pickles might be his second favorite food after pizza. I wasn't brave enough to try the pickle shot, but he claims it was really good. So good he got a second one! After enjoying our drinks and shots, it was time to head back to feed Luna Bear. When we got back, the sun was setting, so we walked to the other side of the campground to where the view was a little better. Cameron wanted to show off his Karate Kid skills as a silhouette. We goofed around taking some fun pictures with a gorgeous sky before heading back to finish with dinner and a fire for one last night!
