New adventure, New State
Rose and I made lists of things we would like to get accomplished for the year, and one of Rose's items was 'travel to a new state.' Neither of us had ever been to Vermont, and it was about time for our annual trip up North. We decided to take a few extra days and make a mini (for us) roadtrip of it!
We decided to save some money on this trip and camp as much as we could in primitive (aka free) campsites in National Forests. One thing we didn't think about in this plan: how hard it would be to find good campsites...
It was around 5pm when we made it to the National Forest. We spent an hour driving around through the woods on sketchy little dirt roads. As we watched the sun get lower and lower, knowing that we still had to do some construction, we finally made it to the perfect campsite. It even came with a picnic table!
Once we got the tent up and dinner started on our brand new, fancy Coleman grill, something exciting happened...
Okay, that's not really the picture of it happening, but either way, whether it was the beer or love, she said yes!
Everyone does engagement photos. That's not us. I wanted to do an engagement tour! And of course, to take our own photos.
There was much celebrating that night! It was so exciting that the raccoons even joined in. Or, at least we thought (hoped) they were raccoons... We heard some strange noises coming from the woods most of the night; that's what camping is all about.
The next morning, we woke up and took a little walk through the woods. Since we got in so late, we didn't really get a chance to see the area. We knew there was a really nice creek at the entrance of the park. That was the first stop after we packed up and man, it was cold!
Also, don't look too hard at that picture. Your eyes might burn. Luna also got to wear her new fancy life jacket that she loves so much. I don't have a picture of her swimming, but we did get one while we were trying it on back in NC.
I think shes thinking about finding a new family in that picture... But she stayed afloat and went swimming with us a little bit that morning. A quick swim/camping shower and we were refreshed and back on the road. Next stop on the Camera Couple Engagement Tour, Mt. Washington!
