The park so nice we visited twice. The little area of McCormick, South Carolina is one of our all-time favorite places to visit. There's nothing but lakes, woods, and not many people. It's perfect for our style of camping. It had been about a year since we first came to Baker Creek State Park, so it was definitely time for a visit. Since the Coronavirus was just starting, we figured not many people would be out camping. We were right! The campground was pretty barren as we drove through. Once we got to our site, we noticed that a family had taken over the site we booked and was enjoying fishing from the picnic table. We didn't want to interrupt their family weekend, and there were plenty of open spaces, so we decided to take a vacant site up a little farther. It didn't matter to us where we stayed. We tried to call the camp office to make sure nobody was coming for the site we adopted, but nobody answered. Trailer and all, we headed to the office to talk to someone in person. Our neighbors probably thought we didn't know what we were doing with all the the stopping and starting in different sites. Of course, nobody was there either. Offices had been shut down for the pandemic. We headed back to our newly adopted site to set up for the weekend, hoping that nobody would show up and push us out. Luckily, they didn't.
Of course, in order to set up the tripod, Rose needed a model to stand there and get the camera in focus. I happily obliged and tried out some of my best modeling poses. If you're interesting in my modeling skills, contact my agent LunaBear. But beware, she's a tough negotiator, and talent like this doesn't come cheap. It'll cost a pizza or two. With the sun going down on yet another happy camping adventure, we set our sights on our next trip. We weren't sure what it was at the moment, but it was going to come sooner than we thought.
